info
Rays of Hope was started in the summer of 2007 by members of local women's networking groups dedicated to sustainability issues. We recently merged with local project 1 House at a Time, which provides energy efficiency retrofits for existing houses, to become Rays of Hope Austin, a 3-phase project encompassing education, load reduction, and solar installation for existing and new homes. The group will work to provide 3 homes with solar PV panels in 2008, with funding from various state and local organizations, including Austin Energy, solar panel manufacturers, and members of the business community.
Stay tuned for a new look for the website as Rays of Hope and 1 House at a Time merge.
Rays of Hope is dedicated to financial empowerment for low-income families, community building, and renewable energy education and advocacy. We create pathways to self-sufficiency for struggling homeowners, and inform the public about the benefits, both financial and environmental, of renewable energy.
Rays of Hope is administered by A Nurtured World, a 501 c 3 non-profit organization. A group of dedicated women from varying professions, tied to each other by their passion for sustainability, provide their time in support of the project.
