Although the state of Texas does not currently have a program that provides funding of renewable energy equipment on an individual basis, there are tax exemptions available in certain instances. Texas residents can also check with their local utility providers, some of whom have energy efficiency programs that offer low cost loans/rebates and advice on renewable energy technologies.

The S.M.A.R.T.HousingTM (Safe, Mixed-income, Accessible, Reasonably-priced, Transit-oriented) policy initiative is designed to stimulate the production of affordable housing for low and moderate income residents of Austin. S.M.A.R.T. HousingTM meets the City’s Green Building standards and is located in neighborhoods throughout the City of Austin.
